I am back from Vegas! It was a total and complete blast. Jackie and I walked the strip, ate Ben & Jerry's almost every day, hiked a bit at Red Rocks (first picture), did some shopping, went to Whole Foods (2 tiems), Jackie <<link to her blog about Vegas>> did a triathlon and it was just an amazing trip. Here are some things that I learned:
1. Ride the Duece (2 level buses that run up and down the strip - 5 bucks for 24 hrs unlimited use). You meet interesting people and it saves your tired feet.
2. Don't go more north than the Trump Towers. Yes, you will not get to see Circus Circus (but that is the point - scariness awaits you there).
3. Stay at Mandalay Bay - great rooms, the nicest staff, a beach (yes, it has sand), a wave pool and the gambling floor isn't too smokey.
4. Valeting your car is an amazing service. They take your car and you give them a few bucks when they bring it you - with water bottles. So nice.
5. You can wear a backpack everywhere. Stick in some water so you don't have to pay 4 bucks for it.
6. Go to Lucy active wear in Las Vegas town Center (south end of the strip). It has the most amazing clothing. Had I not be in my "delicate condition", I would have bought out the store.
7. If you are pregnant, take a most wonderful friend with you and you won't even notice it!
Amusing Things:
1. We met 2 men who repeatedly spoke of sodom and gomorrah and one was going to be a massage therapist for the handicapped.
2. A man asked us where the gift shop was so he could buy something for his "nappy chest hair" and then left when we responded "NO!" to the question if he was going to make out with either of us.
3. Someone wondered if they let pregnant people in Vegas.
4. A man asked if we were backpacking through Vegas and were Germans.
5. An elderly woman picking up the call girl cards off of the ground.
6. When leaving at 5:30 for the triathlon (in which jackie did amazing by the way), a gal shrieked with horror as she was returning from a night on the town, "You are going to a sporting event!"
