We went to take a peek at the ice carving contest held in the town square this weekend. They were all still in the carving stage and it was neat to see all of their tools. There were irons, chisels, saws of all sorts (chain and man powered), hammers and knives. The artists were of all sorts - hippies with a laid back attitude and serious artists studying their plans. I think that they are judging soon, so I don't know who won yet. It was in the single digits I think and super cold with the wind. Huck didn't complain as one carving was of fishes. Duke fell asleep in the front pack and didn't let out a peep in the cold wind once situated.
We then hit the mall in search of a replacement fish. Huck's fish has been missing all weekend and we don't have much hope of his return. I can't find anything similar on the internet or in the stores, but my mother found a large stuffed salmon that seems to be keeping his quite happy (it is a puppet and has teeth). If you know of any rubbery fish stores in your area, you could send a carp or perhaps a mullet (yes, that is a fish).

I'm glad you explained the mullet deal.

It looks beautiful but darn cold. Yeah for hardy Alaskans. I too, will look for a rubbery fish - I might have one in the freezer! Have a great day. tga
I will keep my eyes peeled for rubbery mullets!
I love the new blog layout. Did you check the museum store in the university center? How about the Kite Store in the 5th avenue mall, they have a lot of fun stuff like that. I'll keep my eye out.
Excellent new look for your blog!!
