We sent our relatives doing the Irondog snowmachine race off Friday morning. It was a dark drive out there in the balmy 30' weather - craziness, I know. We brought breakfast, but the men were a bit amped up to really eat, though the supporters ate well. They got ready and drove their machines to the staging area, while we had to drive our trucks across the lake. They plow roads on the lake so you can drive easily. As a safety precaution, I unbuckled the kids in their seats just in case of ice cracking (yes, I do worry about these things...).
They had a safety meeting and then began starting each race team. They would rev up to the line, get a picture taken and then some family member or relative would wave the green flag. Team #46 was called and I got out the video camera and they revved up to the starting line and blew right by in grand fashion. It is totally something our relatives would do and it cracked me up to no end. So, no starting photo for them.
Frank fell through the ice and was in for 10 minutes trying to prevent the sled from going under the ice. - read down on the blog and you can find more about this. He dried out and pressed on!
Here is the link to the updated standings - team 46 (339 years combined age) and team 49!
