Sledding at -7

Don't they look happy to be outside in subzero temperatures?  They weren't happy at all.  They got their millions of layers on without the usual fighting.  They did not want to get out of the car, but I forced them.  I guess I actually told them it would be so fun sledding and we would warm right up walking back up the hill.  They believed me until we hit the bottom of the hill.  It was darn cold on my cheeks with the little bits of snow.  Two other parents were there amazingly enough!  I love not being the only insane lady in town.

We left soon after that one and only run.  I think we last about 20 minutes from putting the car into park and then into drive to leave (and it takes about 5 minutes to get them out of their seats and 5 minutes to get them back into their seats).  I didn't once complain about the weather as I had to hold my tongue during the previous hot winter weather (40s).  As a wonderfully wise family friend always said, 'It is what it is."  No use getting mad at things totally out of your control!

Next time, I will try to cover their faces up a bit more and maybe even have them wear goggles!

It wasn't just cold, it was bitter cold. I'm impressed you even got them in and out of car seats.
