We ventured out through the grey skies and extremely low clouds to Eklutna Lake. The weather was just fine out there! We didn't get a single rain drop, but there was a cold wind by the lake. There was an eagle when we first got there (he is in the left middle - quite small).
We really didn't walk that much on this hike. The boys got lured away from the path by the siren call of the lake. Of course, they brought a pole and net.
The lake was super low, but the kiddos had a great time.
This is Duke "roaring" while showing me his fish. He caught many drift wood fishes and wanted to bring them all back. I told him he had to carry them and started out with one, but soon dropped it.
Kincaid sat on this rock and fished for a long time. He also was happy that his best friend, Ed, came along. The kids had a really good time, but did not fall asleep on the way home. I was sure they would conk out and snore all the way back. Nope.
I love this shot of Duke in the pack. He was too tired to walk back and he rested his chin on my shoulder. It was awfully sweet. He talked the entire way back about "how to get to the Ebro River in Spain."
