I love sitting outside in the evenings. The light turns a pretty and soft, orange color about 8:00 or so these days. There seems to be about a million birds living in one of the trees. They zip around and tweet noisily. The sound is relaxing, but they swoop so low it makes me a mite nervous.

I sat outside under my favorite tree (pictured at left) for a while knitting on yet another baby sweater. This is the same pattern as the last little blue number, but I am making it into a cardigan. I am going to "steek" it - you basically add some stitches to the middle, sew two lines to hold the stitches when you are done knitting and then cut it up the middle. Sounds scary, eh? It is just a faster way to make a cardigan and I will let you know if / when I get to that point. I want to find some little clasps to shut it - like they have on Norwegian sweaters.

Lia,

You are your mother's child. Yesterday my hiking group encountered a huge tree complete with swinging rope. I was the first to take it for a ride. Trees are wonderful!
