The
Buddha babe weighed 12 pounds on the nose yesterday. He is on the 96
th percentile - woo woo, an over achiever at such a young age. I am writing this as the husband is rocking babe to sleep during babe's evening
fussies. I tried many new things last night to no avail - I think he just gets tired and for some reason can't or won't let himself fall asleep. I know that I shouldn't complain as I apparently had the "all of the time
fussies" as a child. Alas...
One friend said her son would sleep with the noise of the blow dryer and another suggested a hot water bottle. Any other tried and true methods for soothing the evening fussies?

Lia,
We drove around in the car with you crying in your car seat until we got too tired to steer! (Your older sister always fell asleep.) It certainly made us tired, although didn't always effect you.

when Steven was a baby, he hated to be swaddled, but it always made him konk out. He would get FUIROUS and then sigh and drift off to sleep hehe. With kate, we would dim the lights and play classical music. With Callie it was singing, she loved to be sang too. Aeryn just plain old liked to be rocked. I hope that helps!
I don't know how many miles we drove around trying to get Bobby to sleep - it was the only thing that worked! He still loves to travel - tga
Tape car seat to washer with off-set towel load and cross-fingers - to use when all else fails! dad
Glass of red wine... just kidding. swaddling works wonders.

Dr. Karp says use the 5-S's: Swaddle, Side, Swing, Suck, & Shush. Swaddle the baby, hold him on his side, swing his head up and down, give him something to suck on, and say,"Shhh!" louder than he cries.
Also try the magic poses in Isty Bitsy Yoga by Helen Garabedian. One of these is called Divine Drops - you hold the baby and do squats with a fast drop down and say shh as you slowly return to standing. Rapid bouncing and swinging are supposed to work well too.
and don't forget the Gripe Water - some homeopathic stuff that I never used but have heard it works.

My second child would have to be taken outside. She would fuss and fuss and wake herself up. Take her outside, and she was calm. Didn't get her to sleep necessarily, but she was quiet.
